In this online training, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, Uzstandard Agency, Textile and germent industry Association, cotton and textile clusters, agronomists and farmers learned about the organic cotton system, main requirements for organic cotton growing, organic cotton standards, certification processes and procedures, at the same time they improved their skills and exchanged experiences with international and local experts.
The training was conducted by Mr. Gian Nicolay, an expert from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) and Mr. Abdulatib Khaldarov, a local expert on organic cotton production.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The main objective of the project is to support the development of a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable cotton production system, including the primary processing system in the country. To this end, the project will create strategic alliances along the entire cotton supply chain and support partners to help farmers improve their production systems. Special attention will be paid to growing and processing systems that help implement international standards for sustainable development (BCI, Organic Cotton and others).
