On May 20, 2020, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations and the Uzstandard Agency, a video conference was held with representatives of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The event was attended by Secretary General of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Sergio Mujica, department heads, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations, Ulugbek Lapasov and senior officials of the Uzstandard agency.
The meeting discussed reforms in the field of standardization throughout the world, the role of international standards in preventing the spread of coronavirus infection, assistance provided by standardization organizations to enterprises during a pandemic, the state of implementation of international ISO standards in Uzbekistan, radical improvement of technical committees of ISO members, as well as important tasks aimed at training and development of standardization.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) highly appreciated the adoption of more than 20 foreign and international standards for medical masks and protective clothing (gloves, gowns) in order to prevent the timely spread of dangerous COVID-19 coronavirus infection in our country.
It was noted that the ongoing reforms in the field of standardization in the country will create wide opportunities for creating high-quality infrastructure that meets international standards, increasing the capacity of products on the world market, introducing innovations and improving the quality of local products.
At the end of the event, it was decided to continue and strengthen cooperation with the International Organization for Standardization in the field of standardization.
